November 06 Virtual Earth on the CBS Evening news tonight (Monday)CBS ran a pretty good piece about Virtual Globes tonight, featuring the newly launched Virtual Earth 3D view. Alex Daley did a great job showing off VE's latest and greatest. If you missed it while broadcast, you can check it out online here. As a bonus, in the online version there is a 5 minute segment where Alex gets to take Anthony Mason much deeper into the new feature set, featuring lots of stuff that had to be cut out of the broadcast version. You can Jump directly into the bonus Video here. Also Featured in the piece is John Curlander, General Manager of Microsoft's Boulder Colorado Office. John and the Boulder team joined Microsoft this year from Vexcel, a company that specialized in taking aerial imagery and making 3D city models from it, among other very propeller heady things. This is a really fascinating technology area, shredding the line between art and science. Someone on John's team is working on a post for this blog that digs into the details of what they do and how they do it - worth staying tuned for. Comments (7)
